CBN Choral Speaking

In year 2007, Ministry of Education recognised SMK CBN using English medium as teaching language and made as one of niche areas of excellence.

The SMK CBN’s persistence to use the English language has carefully sculpted her own styles of the language, whilst teaching us to push boundaries. Over the years, with guidance of the teachers, the students have built their confidence  and maturity when communicating among of them and in society. Throughout the years, SMK CBN has diligently competed in Choral Speaking Competitions and achieved 3 times national champions.

The School Debate Team has always garnered outstanding achievements in national and international competitions since 1980. The biggest victory that SMK CBN achieved was winning the Asian School Debating Championships (ASDC) in 2015.

SMK CBN also succeeds in English language drama production at the school, state and national levels.

CBN Band

The Band of SMK CBN was established in 1998 during Golden Jubilee school celebration with 40 team members. The band was divided into 3 sections which is Woodwind, Brass and Percussion. In 2006 the Colourguard was introduced.

Later year of 2009, Ministry of Education, made recognize the band of SMK CBN as third niche area for the school.

To date, with 58 talented and proactive members work hard to keep up with their predecessor and has participated in numerous national and international competitions and appearances. With the motto of “Individually Unique Together Complete”, they have won many accolades for the past 18 years. The band regularly participate in the Sultan Idris National Wind Orchestra Festival for national and international competitions such as Kuala Lumpur Youth International Marching Band Competitions and World Championship of Marching Show Bands.

For recent success story, in year 2016, SMK CBN Band won Gold Award (Div II) in the Sultan Idris National Wind Orchestra Festival and the Colourguard emerged as the first runner-up in the World Championship of Marching Show Band in august.

In year 2015, CBN Percussion was the first runner-up in Kuala Lumpur Youth International Marching Band Competitions held in Putrajaya also won the Silver Award (Div. I) in the Sultan Idris National Wind Orchestra Festival.

CBN Rhythmic Gymnastic

Gymnastic Sport was introduced to students in SMK CBN in January of 2008. In 2009, the Ministry of Education, recognized the Rhythmic Gymnastic as the second niche area of the school.

The talented students have been representing the school, state, and  country for various competitions at national and international levels for the past 8 years. With systematic and consistent training, our gymnasts won many awards in their competitions over the years.

In 2015, three of our gymnasts represented Malaysia in SEA Games 2015 in Singapore.

For recent success story, in year 2016, a few of our gymnasts won medals in Majlis Sukan Sekolah Wilayah Persekutuan (MSSWPKL), Majlis Sukan Sekolah Malaysia (MSSM), Sukan Malaysia (SUKMA) for national level and Kalamata Cup in Greece for international level.

Cheer Leading

CBN’s senior cheer leading team, Xavier, was established in the year 2000. In the years after that, the popularity of cheer leading in Malaysia and in CBN has grown exponentially. Girls undergo a rigorous training and selection process before being officially initiated in the squad. Xavier performs during sports day, school competitions and upon invitation to showcasing events. Every year, the highlight of Xavier is to compete in the National Cheer Competitions of Malaysia. Xavier has won a slew of awards including but not restricted to Champion, First-runner up, Second-Runner-up and Best Showmanship.

 Xavier’s cheer leading outfit is a trademark green, white and black. Xavier’s cheerleading endeavours are a significant source of pride for the school and it draws out plenty of school spirit. CBN’s Xavier supporters have won the Best Supporter award on multiple occasions. A number of Xavier’s cheer leaders have gone on to cheer professionally in the Cheerleading Association and Register of Malaysia.
