The 118-year-old school organises run in conjunction with Merdeka
KUALA LUMPUR: Convent Bukit Nanas, one of the oldest schools in the country, will be holding a run in conjunction with Merdeka Day celebrations this year. Colour Run 2017 is also aimed at instilling a healthy lifestyle as well as to raise funds for the school. Its principal Nirmala Nathan said the funds collected would go towards increasing the number of academic and co-curricular activities for students as well as to maintain and upgrade school facilities. “The school, in her 118 years, needs to maintain and preserve her infrastructure and Gothic heritage buildings. “It is hoped that this event will create a stronger bond between all parties concerned in line with the strategies in the Malaysian Education Blueprint 2015-2025. “This Run is a continuation of systematically-planned curricular and co-curricular activities to enhance student excellence and to bring the school to greater heights.”
She said the Run also aims to create a sense of togetherness between CBNers, alumni members, parents and the public to come together to aid the school in its endeavour as it lives up to the school motto, Simple in Virtue, Steadfast in Duty. The Colour Run 2017 will be held at the Taman Botani, Kuala Lumpur on July 23 from 7 am. It is a 4 km run around the scenic and bountiful natural landscape around Kuala Lumpur’s oldest and most prestigious park.
